Appearance
Derek is a striking young man with dirty blonde hair and clear blue eyes. The hot stud has a stunning facial bone structure with his chiseled jawline and high cheekbone. He keeps his face and body cleanly shaven and smooth, highlighting his sharp and well-defined features.
His smooth muscular body is framed by his round shoulders and perky pecs with large dark nipples. His washboard abs rippled down his torso like little mountains of muscle. His arms are shredded with thick pulsing veins, added to his overall masculinity.
As DayBreak, his costume comprises of blue heroic mask and a sky-blue full-body suit with navy-blue superhero trunks and boots. The upper part of his suit is sunshine-yellow, with a matching cape that flows with the wind. Across his manly chest is a symbol of a sun.
In his streetwear, he tends to wear a loose tank top that shows off his muscular body.
Personality
As his first impression, DayBreak has a playful personality. He often makes flashy and friendly entrances that bring a ray of sunshine, be it meeting his peers or encountering villains. He also likes to give nicknames to his peers and often tease them.
However, the hero is also extremely arrogant. Being one of the youngest and strongest heroes, he is proud of his powers and likes to show them off. He enjoys casually flexing his muscular body and overwhelming powers to get everyone’s admiration.
When in combat, he also tends to be straightforward and aggressive. His arrogance and aggressiveness seem to fluctuate with his oscillating powers. At the peak of his abilities, he tends to fight without thought or strategy, simply overwhelming his enemies with raw power. While this made him extremely predictable, most villains are not able to handle him at his peak.
Origins
Spoiler Alert for Book 3: Fall of the Sun
Derek is the son of Captain Solar, one of the greatest heroes of his time.
He had a great childhood with his loving parents until he was 12, when his father went missing. After that, life fell apart for the young boy. Years after failing to locate the hero, his mother could not take the “loss” of her husband and committed suicide, leaving the young boy alone.
Derek lived the rest of his young adulthood alone in their family home, which was once filled with love, but now a dark and depressing place. Nevertheless, he continued to search for his lost father over the years with the help of Boy Azure, his father’s mentee. Once Boy Azure became a full-fledge hero as True Blue, Derek trained under his mentorship as DayBreak.
Six years after Captain Solar’s disappearance, news of the hero leader surfaced. However, the discovery itself continued to be one of the most traumatic episodes in DayBreak’s life. It took the young hero months before he returned to his heroic duties.
This time, like how his father was, he wore a brighter and broader smile than before, taking on a more playful and energetic personality to mask his traumatic past.
