Origins
Lucien Drift grew up in the shadowy underbelly of the Pacific Water Continent’s Sea Dragon Palace.
Orphaned at a young age, he survived by developing uncanny reflexes and an instinct for reading people’s intentions. He fell in with a notorious gang of smugglers who used the ocean’s depths to move illicit goods, becoming their most prized diver and scout.
During one particularly dangerous run through a treacherous underwater cave system, Lucien’s crew was ambushed by a rival faction. Trapped in a collapsing cavern, Lucien felt a strange energy coursing through his veins. As he panicked, bio-electricity erupted from his body, illuminating the cave and stunning his attackers. In that moment of crisis, he discovered his innate abilities—speed that defied water resistance and the power to channel electricity through his body.
After escaping the cave and leaving his criminal life behind, Lucien was recruited by the Sea Dragon Palace’s reconnaissance division. His unique skill set made him an invaluable asset for covert operations and intelligence gathering. Despite his initial reluctance to work within an establishment, he found a sense of purpose among the Protectors that he’d never experienced before.
Now known as Black Manta, he serves as the team’s eyes and ears, using his speed and stealth to gather crucial information and strike from the shadows when necessary. Though he maintains his cocky exterior, he has developed a grudging respect for his teammates and would risk everything to protect them.
