Appearance

Sirocco is a muscular man, 5ft 10in tall (178cm) and weighing 185lbs (84kg). His dark brown hair is styled in a short, spiky cut and his rugged features are accentuated by a neatly trimmed beard. He has piercing brown eyes, thick expressive eyebrows, and a small scar above his left eyebrow.

His superhero costume is made of lightweight, sand-colored material, accentured with gold armor. It features a mesh-lined hood, fingerless gloves, and sturdy boots with small vents that prevent overheating.

Personality

In his civilian life, Az comes across as arrogant or, at best, aloof – fitting for his profession as a male model. His good looks landed him the job and provided an excellent cover for his frequent absences due to photo shoots. He prefers to stay at home and keeps his personal and painful past hidden when out in public. The only indication of his compassionate side is his adoption of a sixteen-year-old son a few years ago. When it comes to his adopted son, he is a caring and loving father. He will do anything to protect his son and keep him safe, even if it means putting himself in danger. Az’s love for his son is one of the few things that can break through his usually cold exterior.

On the other hand, his hero persona, Sirocco, couldn’t be any more different. Sirocco is a confident and charismatic hero who takes pride in his powers. He is a caring, outgoing hero who radiates his love for all living things. Sirocco is generous with his time and often visits hospitals, nursing homes, and orphanages, all in an attempt to create a sense of family that he left behind. His selfless acts make him one of the most beloved heroes.

Origins

Just four days before his 18th birthday, a young peasant son set out for the sacred region north of the Empire of the Sands, known as the Oasis of Ascendance, where spirituality and tradition converge.

Surrounded by towering sand dunes and sheltered by ancient palm groves, the Oasis of Ascendance is a lush haven amid the desert expanse. Here, a magnificent temple stands as the focal point of the region, its domes and spires reaching towards the heavens. The temple is dedicated to the Guardians of the Sands, revered deities believed to watch over the destiny of the young males of the Empire.

With only his father’s dagger, a bag of meager rations, and his knowledge of the desert, Az embarked on a pilgrimage to the Oasis of Ascendance to partake in the sacred rite of passage known as the “Rising Eclipse.”

Just as he was near the Oasis of Ascendance, a horrific windstorm blew up. The hot winds picked up the sand and set it against the unprotected boy. It seemed as if demons had created this storm to destroy Azulay. Helpless in the storm, Az screamed to the Guardians of the Sands for help.

A swarm of locusts gathered as if answering his plea. Landing upwind, the locusts climbed atop one another and hooked their legs together. With their backs towards the wind, the insect armor easily deflected the sand and protected Az from its stinging effects. However, the locusts could not protect him from the scorching winds. The burning winds seared his throat and lungs as the young man gasped for air.

When he finally arrived at the Oasis, Azulay got ready for the ritual of his first veiling. As the High Priest finished the ceremony, Azulay joyously raised his arms to the sky. Suddenly, hot winds raced at the others, stinging them with bits of sand. The people fled the scene, certain that an evil spirit had possessed Azulay.

Word spread like the wild desert wind.

Banished from his family and village, Azulay did not have a choice but to leave the Empire and set out into the world.
