In the Blue Region’s tranquil depths, a seafolk civilization thrived. The seafolk people were humanoid beings with little to no difference from their land counterparts besides a set of gills behind their ears for breathing. Among them, a rare few possess a specific gift of aquatic superpowers and are known as “The Awakens”.

Lang Shayu, a young seafolk, was born into this world where the ocean was both his home and destiny. From a young age, his family found that he exhibited a remarkable affinity for the sea.

But Shayu’s true destiny only began to surface during a family trip when he was young. His family ventured to the Crustaceans Trench, a remote part of the Blue Region, known for its stunning underwater landscapes and a reputation for harboring deep secrets. While exploring the surface of the trench for its coral reefs, Lang’s life changed forever.

A sudden and powerful storm swept through the region, churning the sea into a frenzy. Trapped in the tempest’s fury, the family struggled to stay alive as monstrous waves threatened to swallow them whole deep into the trench. Panic set in, but something miraculous happened as they were about to succumb to the unforgiving ocean.

At that moment, Shayu encountered a spirit white shark, a creature both feared and revered in the Blue Region. Instead of the anticipated threat, Shayu experienced a profound connection with the shark. It was as though they were kindred spirits, bound by an unspoken understanding of the ocean’s secrets. In this moment of connection, his powers were awakened. As if guided by instinct, he surged forward, easily cutting through the waves and rescuing his family.

With newfound abilities, Shayu survived the storm and thrived in its chaos. He became one with the sea, a living force of nature. With that, he took on the superhero alias known as “Riptide”.

Clad in a sleek suit, Riptide patrolled the waters, defending sea life from poachers, pollution, and any other threats that dared to harm the ocean he held so dear.

Recognized by the Emperor of the Sea Dragon Palace, Riptide has bestowed the title – Protectors of the Blue and quickly became a symbol of hope for the seafolks and a testament to the extraordinary bond between humans and the natural world.
